Highlights

  • 9 out of 10 developers feel that becoming proficient in Appian has positively impacted their job prospects.
  • 8 out of 10 Appian developers feel confident about their career and future.
  • 76% of survey respondents have experienced a salary increase since learning Appian.
  • 85% of developers surveyed say Appian's comprehensive training was instrumental to their success.

Job prospects and career growth.

Developers are increasingly recognizing the value of Appian for enhancing job prospects and attaining overall job satisfaction. Due to the platform's commitment to innovation, Appian developers find themselves equipped with the most in-demand skills, and according to Appian’s survey, 9 out of 10 developers report that proficiency in Appian has had a positive impact on their job prospects.

This is a testament to the growing demand for low-code solutions in a market that increasingly values agility and efficiency. In the 2023 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™  for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms (LCAP), they stated, “Even conservative IT organizations that have previously resisted modernization and automation are exploiting LCAPs to move to the cloud, enable mobile user experiences, address skills and resource shortages, and achieve faster time to market for their products and services.”

In fact, 8 out of 10 Appian developers who responded to the survey feel confident about their career and future opportunities. These results indicate that low-code expertise is becoming synonymous with job security and growth.

Satisfaction with significance and speed of work.

Appian developers reported high job satisfaction across a variety of measures including work impact, project variety, and completion timelines. Chief among these job satisfaction measures were:

Roughly 63% of respondents highlighted that they get to work on innovative projects within their company, while another 47% of respondents reported variety in projects and responsibilities as a key contributor to their overall job satisfaction.

Greater business impact.

These results reflect how Appian teams function within enterprises, where developers often take on additional roles to complement their core development duties. These might include roles such as:

  • Product owners

  • Testers

  • Business analysts

  • UI/UX designers

And 58% of survey respondents reported holding degrees outside of computer science. This shows how easy it is for even non-developers to become proficient with low-code tools. But beyond that, low-code developers with non-traditional backgrounds can bring skills from their respective fields to their low-code development projects. The  “developer and ________” approach equips Appian developers with the technical knowledge needed to stay competitive in the market, while also fostering a comprehensive set of skills to contribute meaningfully across business domains and objectives.

Training as a foundation for success.

Training stands out as a cornerstone to success in the Appian developer community. Respondents examined their own experience with Appian's comprehensive training programs—from instructor-led courses to Academy Online offerings—and how this training has impacted their work:

Appian training empowers developers with the knowledge and skills to excel, while also providing students with a variety of delivery formats to maximize flexibility.

Powerful resources at your fingertips.

Apart from formal training, developers have a wealth of resources at their disposal to learn and stay on top of the latest developments in Appian.
