New Media Group Deploys Appian BPM in 90 Days
Premier Hong Kong Publisher Targets Core Business Process Improvement
RESTON, Va.—September 20, 2010— Appian, the global innovator in enterprise and on-demand business process management (BPM) technology, today announced that New Media Group, one of Hong Kong’s leading publishing groups, has deployed the first of many planned process applications on the Appian BPM Suite. Working with Appian’s partner in the region, Frontier Research & Technology, New Media Group deployed its Expense Claim Creation and Approval process in 90 days. New Media Group and Frontier are already well down the path of creating a new multi-process Advertising Billing System (ABS), with Customer and Contract Creation processes also targeted. New Media Group has been actively migrating other processes, such as their Leave application process, to the Appian BPM platform.”New Media Group prides itself on a commitment to implementing the most advanced technologies to enhance our operational efficiency, while providing the highest-quality products to both readers and advertising clients,” said Li-Yen Chiu, Project Manager at New Media Group. “Appian’s state-of-the-art BPM platform is core to our strategy for continuous process improvement throughout our organization, and Frontier has been an exceptional partner in helping deliver fast results.”New Media Group owns and publishes five popular weekly magazines in Hong Kong covering a broad range of consumer topics. The Group also publishes supplements and books, and has created an online platform for selling its content to overseas markets. The Group employs approximately 500 staff across its Magazine team (Sales and Marketing and Editorial) and Support teams (Finance, Human Resources, Administration, Circulation, Production, IT, Online and Library).
The Group is actively building a true enterprise-wide BPM Program covering a wide range of functions across units within both teams. The comprehensive capabilities and ease-of-use of the Appian platform allows both Business and IT to be actively engaged in designing the Group’s process solutions. Working with Appian & Frontier, the Group has quickly built up the internal competencies needed to drive its BPM Program going forward.
“Achieving BPM self-sufficiency was a clear goal for the Group from the outset,” said William Tse, Sales Consulting Director at Frontier. “With our expertise, we were able to get their Expense Claim process and significant portions of the Advertising Billing System up quickly. Through our focus on BPM knowledge transfer, we have enabled them to own continued development of other process modules within ABS and in other business areas.”
New Media Group expects to complete and roll out the full ABS solution later this year. In addition, the Group has begun development of the Leave Application process on Appian.
“New Media Group’s use of Appian exemplifies how our platform can deliver rapid benefit in a discrete process area, and transformational value when deployed across an enterprise,” said Matthew Calkins, President and CEO of Appian. “We are proud to welcome New Media Group to the Appian community, and we thank Frontier for their dedication in ensuring the Group’s success.”
Appian delivers an enterprise platform for digital transformation that enables organizations to reinvent the customer experience, optimize their business operations, and master governance, risk and compliance. Powered by industry leading Business Process Management (BPM) and Case Management capabilities, Appian’s low-code approach can radically accelerate the time it takes to build and deploy powerful, modern applications, on-premises or in the cloud.
