Pirelli Creates an Event-Driven Enterprise with Appian BPM
September 15, 2014
RESTON, Va.—September 15, 2014— Appian, the market leader in modern business process management (BPM) and Case Management software, today announced that Pirelli Tyre, a leading manufacturer of high-end and performance tires, has deployed a series of enterprise-wide case management solutions on the Appian BPM Suite. Pirelli’s extensive deployments range from sales and product design to quality and safety control, all while leveraging enterprise data management and social collaboration to deliver the most modernized IT infrastructure. Appian partnered with leading Italian BPM provider Easynex to drive Pirelli’s initial BPM implementations.
Pirelli is synonymous with manufacturing excellence worldwide, with a direct presence in over 160 countries across five continents. Given the high level of quality and performance associated with the Pirelli name, executive leadership mandated a review of internal IT infrastructure to ensure that supporting systems were as proactive as possible. The goal was to evolve Pirelli IT into an event-driven architecture that “pushes” relevant information and actions to the business users who need them.
“Appian’s Work Platform helps our IT infrastructure match our brand promise of excellence and high-performance,” said Alessandra Banfi, CIO at Pirelli. “Appian is fast in terms of application roll-out times, precise in terms of the control it gives us over our operations, and modern in terms of its features, such as native mobility and social collaboration.”
Pirelli’s Mould Management solution uses Appian to accelerate requests from automobile manufacturers for new tire types, or for changes to existing tire models. Appian handles the input and routing of requests to ensure the completion and hand-offs of all related work tasks for improved responsiveness and service quality. Pirelli’s second solution, called Decomplexity, ties various project specifications in the ERP system to the related business processes conducted in various departments across the company. Appian business rules optimize process flow, collaborations and approvals to ensure the accuracy and consistency of all data.
Additional solutions deployed on Pirelli’s Appian-based platform include:
- Major Breakdown Analysis – Analysis of breakdowns longer than 8 hours related to factory machinery and accelerates response times for prevention of similar defects to reduce production losses.
- Vendor Rating Management – Monitoring of all steps and actions involved in a Vendor Rating Campaign to reduce time through automatic reminders and escalating tasks.
- Health, Safety & Environment – Data collection and safety incident analysis aimed at incident reduction and improvement of work safety conditions to support Corporate Social Responsibility practice and eliminate unsafe conditions on site.
