Companies celebrate 1st Anniversary of Columbus, OH Center of Excellence with customer-driven hackathon
Santa Clara, CA & Reston, VA—December 10, 2015— In a powerful demonstration of how platforms and software-driven solutions can drive digital initiatives for organizations, Persistent Systems (BSE & NSE: PERSISTENT) and Appian celebrated the 1-year anniversary of their Columbus, OH Center of Excellence with a customer-focused hackathon. The 24-hour competition matched development teams from Persistent in a competition to create applications that could be immediately implemented by the sponsoring customers. The hackathon was an example of Appian’s Adopt Now program – a unique implementation approach to jumpstart new Appian solution areas by accelerating a first production release – bolstered by the “Persistent Way”, a unique, Agile implementation approach focusing on quickly releasing technology solutions to production.
“Our partners are crucial in our mission to help our customers become Digital. Appian has built an incredibly power platform on which we can deliver innovate applications for that mission,” said Sudhir Kulkarni, President, Persistent Systems Inc. “Over the past few years, hackathons have really become a part of the Persistent culture of innovation. This is the first time we have done one with a customer and it is both invigorating and challenging to our team and delivers at speed, real-world application ideas and prototypes with commercial value. That is the power of Persistent’s platform centric approach to digital transformation.”
“We need partners who can build value on our platform so that users can be united with all their data, processes and collaborations. Persistent’s Appian Center of Excellence highlights the strategic nature of our partnership,” said Joe Kozak, Vice President, Global Partners and Alliances at Appian. “The hackathon brilliantly demonstrated how customers and partners can take advantage of our support for Agile and Continuous methodologies to rapidly deliver elegant solutions, and adapt them in real-time.”
The problem statements solved at the hackathon included:
- Automate the complete deployment workflow for any Appian application, utilizing Appian Public APIs to inspect and import packages into a specific Appian environment without requiring a deployment team member to login to the Appian environment to complete the deployment.
- From an end-user perspective, “Establish Enterprise Reference Data” as part of their Appian based applications in order to avoid duplicating data and establish better data governance by providing systematic way to manage the reference data.
- Create a lifecycle tool that can take a project from the intake process, through governance review, into requirements gathering, resulting in design and deployment.
- Build a Claim Management System in order to use rules and take actions like sending notifications and kicking workflows based on the configurable business rules.
