PREMIER BPM SOFTWARE CONFERENCE SPOTLIGHTS MOBILE, SOCIAL, CLOUD AND BIG DATA TO ACHIEVE BUSINESS SUCCESS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE EXCELLENCE

RESTON, Va.—May, 12, 2014 —Appian, the market leader in modern business process management (BPM) and Case Management software, today announced that the company’s annual global user conference, Appian World 2014, drew record attendance from the BPM community. Nearly 800 attendees, from 250 unique organizations, across every continent and 22 industries, gathered at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. to discuss the convergence of mobile, social, cloud, and big data in the business environment and how they can be leveraged for organizational growth.

Appian’s modern Work Platform is driving business transformation across the enterprise by combining business process management, social collaboration, native mobile access, portable cloud delivery, and big data management into a single platform. At the conference, business and IT leaders from large commercial organizations, labor unions and other non-profits shared their BPM success stories, best-practices and lessons-learned.

Appian World 2014 included Keynote presentations from Daryl Plummer, Chief of Research and Fellow at Gartner, Inc., and Robert Herjavec, business titan and star of ABC TV’s “Shark Tank.” Mr. Plummer’s presentation focused on “Taming Disruption Through a Nexus of Forces.” He detailed how the forces of mobility, social collaboration, cloud computing, and information (or, data) can deliver business transformation when deeply integrated with the processes on which a business runs. Mr. Herjavec detailed the evolution of technology innovation and the accelerating pace of change in business today. Using illustrations from his own life and his experiences on Shark Tank, he expounded on the importance of delivering value and making innovation “consumable” within the business and by customers.

Appian customer presenters included CIOs and other leaders from across multiple industry verticals detailing case study examples of how Appian solutions have led to business transformation and growth. In the Financial Services arena, CME Group, Janus Capital, AIG and the Bank of Tennessee discussed how Appian can drive revenue, reduce risk and generate new levels of efficiency, while long-time Appian customer European Bank for Reconstruction & Development provided guidelines for maturing a BPM project into a strategic, enterprise-wide BPM program. Appian partner Amazon Web Services (AWS) front-ended presentations from Appian Cloud customers Dallas/Fort Worth Airport and Punch Taverns, who illustrated the value of integrating enterprise data, mobility and social collaboration to empower the business and engage employees, customers and partners. Pharmaceutical leader Sanofi presented on leveraging Appian for Case Management in complex clinical trials processes. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems shared techniques for minimizing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for managed business processes. Manufacturing leader Flowserve presented a technical session on tips for mobilizing enterprise applications. The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LiUNA) discussed how a data-first approach to BPM is enabling increased engagement with its 500,000 members.

New technology innovations and service offerings of the Appian BPM Suite were also unveiled at the conference. The latest capabilities of Appian 7 were showcased to highlight enhancements to both the end-user and designer experience, allowing organizations to more easily reap the benefits of smarter, faster decisions and actions. The new release continues to enhance Appian SAIL (Self-Assembling Interface Layer), Appian’s unique architecture for delivering dynamic and responsive web and native-mobile user interfaces through a “write once, deploy everywhere” approach. Additional features in the latest version of the Appian platform include new Data Integration Connectors, Editable Grids, and enhancements to Appian’s Interface Designer and Branding capabilities.

“Appian customers and partners are defining the future of enterprise IT software by embracing a Work Platform to transform operations and spark innovation,” said Matt Calkins, President and CEO at Appian. “Appian World 2014 was a showcase of what our users can accomplish when implementing modern technologies to create a better way to work and drive business results.”
