Vampires areone of the best Halloween personas! Each year, countless children (and even many adults) adorn the iconic black and red capes, coupled with fake fangs and fake blood.

Admit it...at some point, you've gone up to friends or family members and said,"I vant to suck your blood."

But, what happens after October 31st?We stash away the capes and the fangs and the blood under the stairs or in the garage for their yearlong hibernation. The vampire actors temporarily retire to become normal humans once more.

Unfortunately, vampires don't exist solely around Halloween. Businesses have their own vampire to deal with; and this vampire doesn't come out just once a year.

Shadow IT is a vampire. And it could be sucking the blood out of your business.

Terrifying, I know. A villain that operates in the shadows, slowly sucking away the life of your IT department. How could you ever combat such a foe?

Fear not, for I'm here to tell you the vampire of Shadow IT does have its own garlic. Below is a one-step guide on how to contain this beast.

Employ Low-Code software

Really. It's that simple. Low-Code software is your garlic to contain this vampire.

There are three reasons why Low-Code can help you drive away this vampire.

1) Non-IT employees are empowered by low-code.

Giving the keys to non-IT employees to build and deploy their own applications can deal a significant blow to Shadow IT. The main cause of Shadow IT is the bottleneck of waiting for IT's approval to acquire a new software for a certain project. If there is no need to wait for approval, there will be no need to acquire unapproved software discreetly.

2) The right low-code software comes with enterprise-grade security, standard.

Right out of the gate, the right low-code software meets required security standards. With fine-grained security and certifications in place, IT can rest easy knowing secure applications are being built. Detailed user permissions are easy to integrate, ensuring that those who should have access are the only ones who do.

3) Additions to low-code software in the future are easy to execute.

With the uncertainty of demands in the future...and the cutthroat pace the world operates today...applications must be able to adapt to meet future demands, fast. When built on the right platform, low-code applications allow construction of a framework application where future integrations can be applied seamlessly. By having this flexible capability, non-IT employees won't need to find a new software for every project they need. The rest of the business benefits from expansion of loosely automated apps. And IT rests a bit easier, knowing apps are cooperating in the environment, and having the ability to focus on more strategic initiatives.

So, don't let Shadow IT suck the blood out of your IT department.
