Mobile industry in need of connecting points, BPM software can help
Like most technology industries, the mobile application market is going through a few growing pains as it expands from its infancy into mainstream use. One of the major problems facing the sector is a lack of leadership across the landscape. This creates an environment in which key connecting points between application developers, device makers and business leaders are not taken care of, creating some sense of chaos in the sector. Business process management software can overcome some of the operational problems stemming from this landscape by giving organizations the tools they need to optimize mobile application environments.
Considering the mobile leadership gap
A recent Appcelerator survey found a major leadership gap in the mobile market as a whole. The problem begins internally in the enterprise, but stems out to the entire mobile sector. Many organizations are prioritizing mobile applications and services as a key strategic asset moving forward. However, the survey found that internal leadership for mobile strategies is hard to find, putting companies in a difficult position because they enter the mobile market blindly, InfoWorld reported.
At the same time, the survey found that many traditional IT leaders are not keeping up with the mobile movement, and are focused in other areas. This contributes to a lack of leadership because the typical industry leaders that businesses turn to for help are unable to provide the insight corporations need. Michael King, enterprise strategy director for Appcelerator, told the news source that enterprise companies are used to looking to mega vendors for the help they need in choosing the right technologies, and that leadership is simply not present.
While these problems persist, King said they are not slowing mobile’s explosion in business settings. He told InfoWorld that many organizations have found incredible success by expanding their mobile application footprints, and the coming year will be one in which in-house mobile app development increases.
Looking to BPM for help
In many cases, industry leaders play an integral role in technological development by overcoming the inherent flaws in a technology and helping the sector move forward. Without mainstream leaders taking hold in the mobile sector, companies are left to solve those problems on their own. Integration is one of the greatest issues with mobile apps, as they have to work in conjunction with traditional solutions, social systems and the cloud. BPM software provides the integration architecture to ensure that companies get the most of their mobile app investments, providing the connecting links between solutions lacking in the mobile app sector.
