A recentAppcelerator survey founda major leadership gap in the mobile market as a whole. The problem begins internally in the enterprise, but stems out to the entire mobile sector. Many organizations are prioritizing mobile applications and services as a key strategic asset moving forward. However, the survey found that internal leadership for mobile strategies is hard to find, putting companies in a difficult position because theyenterthe mobile market blindly,InfoWorld reported.
At the same time, the survey found that many traditional IT leaders are not keeping up with the mobile movement,and are focused in other areas. This contributes to a lack of leadership because the typical industry leaders that businesses turn to for help are unable to provide the insight corporations need. Michael King, enterprise strategy director for Appcelerator, told the news source that enterprise companies are used to looking to mega vendors for the help they need in choosing the right technologies,and that leadership is simply not present.
While these problems persist, King said they are not slowingmobile's explosion in business settings. He told InfoWorld that many organizations have found incredible success byexpanding their mobile application footprints,and the coming year will be one in which in-house mobile app development increases.

In many cases, industry leaders play an integral role in technologicaldevelopment by overcoming the inherent flaws in a technology and helping the sector move forward. Without mainstream leaders taking hold in the mobile sector, companies are left to solve those problems on their own.
