After the breakout sessions ended for the day, Appian World 2013 attendees reunited in the Amphitheater for a panel discussion. Tom Suder, president of Mobilegov and Industry Chair of the ACT/IAC Advanced Mobility Working Group, moderated a discussion on the opportunities and challenges for enterprise mobility in the public sector. The panel looked at the complexities of integrating all the elements of a mobile infrastructure to support the mission with game-changing mobile applications. It also examined the Digital Government Strategy and how it has impacted Public Sector Enterprise mobility.

Raj Subramanian, CIO of the State of Ohio Office of Budget and Management (OBM), gave a quick overview of their BPM program (we'll hear more about it in his keynote on May 1). The Ohio OBM's mobile experience is focused on business continuity and asset management.
Jason Adolf from Serco spoke about their very successful VA for Vets program, which connects veterans with jobs.
Serco is expanding outreach of their program with mobile BPM. They've developed an application that will allow them to capture veterans' contact information wherever they meet them, whether that's at a career fair or just on the street. The app allows them to untether from desktop computers when performing outreach in the field.
Larry Melton of the Building People, LLC, talked about connected real estate. His company focuses on full service facilities management solutions that drive sustainability and smart buildings. Ubiquitous technology is important to achieve their goals, and mobile is a key part of that puzzle.
