Why Appian
The Appian solution provides visibility and tracking of the components that factor into the MSRP offered to consumers, including subsidies paid by Sirius to manufacturers. Sirius chose Appian because they needed visibility into the product pricing process. Without any insight into the way pricing and shipping costs are calculated, Sirius faced the following challenges:
- Marketing design promotions did not have access to data related to the subsidies being paid on a per unit basis
- Finance relied on paper copies of subsidy agreements (contracts) for reference when generating subsidy payments
- Finance had no easy way to analyze subsidy trends over time within a product line or across product lines in order to complete future subsidy forecasting
- Marketing design promotions did not have data on which products were more popular, except on a quarterly or delayed basis
- Finance had to complete a manual reconciliation process for product orders to settle subsidy payments
Implementation Achievements
Appian helped Sirius to deploy a flexible solution that provided the following benefits:
- Visibility into product pricing components, including historical trends
- Automation of the reconciliation of product shipments against subsidy agreement invoices received from manufacturers
- Secure environment to share information on a need-to-know basis
