Business Process Management Training: Appian Developer

Overview
This three-day class will train Appian developers on how to setup and utilize Appian development tools and how to configure commonly accessed features. This course will focus on creating smart service and function plugins, defining and managing complex data types and configuring and using JavaScript, CSS, Web Services and Databases within Appian. This business process management course is hands-on, with frequent exercises.

• Process Design Course
• Knowledge of BPM concepts
• Familiarity with Java and J2EE specifications
• Familiarity with JavaScript
• Familiarity with application servers (e.g.: JBoss, Tomcat, Weblogic)
• Familiarity with RDBMS and Web Services

Day 1

• Overview of the Appian software architecture
• Installing Appian
• Setting up a Appian development environment (Eclipse and Appian Eclipse plugin, MySQL, datasources)
• Utilizing Available Appian Components
• Creating Appian Plugins (smart services, functions, Java annotations)

Day 2

• Presentation of the Appian Java API
• Designing Complex Data Types (XSD, JPA annotations, database enablement)
• Using CSS and Branding Appian
• Using JavaScript in Appian forms

Day 3

• Extending User Profiles
• Exposing and Consuming Web Services
• Communication using JMS
• Accessing Appian from an external application using Java
• Extending the Appian graphical report tool
