BPM Process Modeler
The Process Tools section is where a number of process related tools can be found. The Process Tools section includes quick click buttons to perform actions such as "Save", "Save As", "Open", "Close". There are also buttons for connecting nodes, deleting nodes or resizing the process template for viewing. Process Palette
The Process Palette area contains the list of all available nodes that can be added to a process. Nodes represent the steps within the process. These nodes can be operator gateways, such as "Or", "And", and "And/Or". The nodes can also be action nodes such as "Start Event" or "Send Message". Finally, each BPM Software suite has its own set of nodes for interacting with process users and other systems. Start Node
The Start Node is the node at which a process begins. Rules
A rule is an expression that is reusable throughout the application. Rules allow process designers to specify how the process should act based upon different variables. Process Nodes
Process Nodes are the basic unit needed to create a process; unit representing a step in a process. Swim Pool
A Swim Pool is a graphical container for partitioning a set of activities from other pools. Swim Lane
A Swim Lane is a sub-partition, used to organize and categorize events, extending the entire length of a pool, either vertically or horizontally. Assignment & Escalations
Assignment refers to the ability to assign various tasks to different users, roles and/or groups within the Process Modeler. Escalations are a means of handling tasks that are not completedy by a set time. An escalation can entail sending another alert to the task owner or re-assigning the task. Integration & Web Services
Integration Nodes are a means of integrating outside systems into the business process. BPM Software suites often offer out of the box integration nodes for ERP, Database and other popular enterprise systems. Web Services are a means of integrating the process with any standard Web Service.
