Document and Content Management
Appian's Document and Content Management facilities are designed to capture, manage, version control, and search all content captured both inside and outside of process. Appian includes an easy-to-use web interface for creating team knowledge centers to store key documents. Documents stored in the environment can be checked in and out and version controlled as changes are made. Each document area can also be configured with expiration dates, to ensure documents remain fresh while archiving all older documents.

Appian also includes the ability to manage web content in dashboards. Web content provides a free-form collaboration environment for users to make updates directly to a dashboard and share information with team members. Rich text editing is included in the web interface and all changes are fully version controlled. All content is indexed and made searchable through the Appian interface. Full-text search is applied to common content formats, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, and other documents as well as all web content areas.

Discussion Threads
Appian further includes team collaboration and discussion areas to capture communications between users. The Appian Discussion Forums allow users to have threaded conversations on any topic. Each topic can be associated with content areas and individual posts can be rated for meaningfulness. As discussions occur, Appian will index all discussion content and enable rapid searching to help users find answers to common questions.

Process Integration

All actions that can be performed by users in the Knowledge Management environment can be controlled and scripted in an Appian process. Appian includes over 85 actions to control creation, deletion, movement, and security of content in all areas.
