The World Bank Group

World Bank

The World Bank Group is a vital source of financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. The company is made up of two unique development institutions owned by 185 member countries: the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA). Each institution plays a different but supportive role in their mission of global poverty reduction and the improvement of living standards.

Business Problem

The World Bank Group needed a more effective event management system for its Global Development Learning Network (GDLN), a partnership of learning centers facilitated by the Bank. The previous BPM software system did not effectively or efficiently manage the planning and delivery of joint virtual learning and communication events.

Appian BPM Solution

Utilizing a new GDLN Event Management System from Appian, World Bank GDLN Affiliates and clients worldwide can more effectively manage the planning and delivery of development learning events. By providing a collaborative, process based workspace for coordinating all logistics, Appian's business process management software delivers the structure and flexibility required to support GDLN's international planning activities. Appian helps GDLN identify targeted participants, schedule resources for events, manage invoices from affiliates, conduct surveys, and more, efficiently and effectively. GDLN is able to limit its IT maintenance costs since Appian Enterprise is 100 percent web-based, requiring no user downloads or desktop software installations for BPM solutions.
