Improving Data Quality for Healthcare Providers
When you hear about the city of Nashville, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
The TV show with the same name?
The late, great Johnny Cash?
What if I said healthcare? Would healthcare ring a bell?
Probably not, but what many people don’t know is that Nashville is a bustling metropolis of healthcare innovation in the Southeast. Nashville holds some of our country’s greatest health systems just miles away from the lights of the Grand Ole Opry.
Earlier this month I had the pleasure of attending the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Summit of the Southeast in Nashville. It was my first healthcare event since joining the Appian Industry Marketing team earlier this year and with the plethora of healthcare and IT professionals converging together, it did not disappoint.
Throughout the event, each breakout session and speaker seemed to be thinking about the same thing: How can we ease the pain of the patient?
For some sessions, it was about the physical pain of using technology during work on new innovations that help in treatments for diseases. Other discussions examined the potential pain that can come after a doctor’s visit, when it comes to patients paying their bills and both healthcare payers and providers working together.
One of the things that was touched on over and over again was quality of care, and specifically, data quality when it comes to healthcare. When clinicians of all kind can be guaranteed that the information they have about their patients is in fact, clean, concise, up the minute data, it makes everyone’s life easier, and assists in top-notch treatment for the patient.
When it comes to healthcare, data quality is just one of the many areas where Appian can be an asset.
