Last year I put together these two videos to help those new to Appian quickly learn how to access the Appian Process Modeler and Appian Reporting.  These two areas of Appian are a fundamental part of Appian for both creating your initial process solutions and enabling continuous process improvement in your organization.  The Process Modeler and Reporting tools are both delivered as an intuitive web-based design environment for rapid creation of process solutions.

If you need to get up to speed quickly on these key components of Appian, then I hope you find the below video introductions useful.

star trek Exclusive Video: Star Trek and the Future of Federal IT Priorities

How often do you hear a high-level government executive discuss Star Trek, future technologies and the need for IT to be about decision making in the same breath?  Or hear a CEO discuss how process automation has trumped the slide rule as the necessary technology to get us to Mars?

These are all concepts to reinforce the value of process improvement for government, and how it drives overall effectiveness.  Essentially, Business Process Management (BPM) is becoming a ‘must have’ technology for government.

Check out the last installment of our video series from the “Hottest IT Trends in Diplomacy and Defense” event hosted by Bisnow from last week.  Once again, we feature clips of Keith Seaman, Acting Director, Defense Business Systems Acquisition Executive (DBSAE) Business Transformation Agency (BTA), and Matthew Calkins, CEO of Appian.  Except this time, we are showcasing a bit of a sci-fi twist.

gyeates BetterGov Video: Garry Yeates, Vice President, Professional Services, Appian, Discusses Flexibility of BPM Solutions for Government
We all know that government agencies are looking for technology solutions that can be quickly configured and tailored to meet their specific requirements. While this may not be the reality of many of today’s government technology integrations, Business Process Management (BPM) is a game-changer that actually meets these needs.

For example, Appian provides an “out of the box” acquisition template that is completely flexible and can be rapidly integrated and updated. Interested in hearing more about this? Check out this exclusive video with Garry Yeates, Vice President, Professional Services, Appian, who provides key insights into the flexibility of BPM:

Speaking of acquisitions, be sure to check out the “Hottest Trends in Diplomacy and Defense” Bisnow event on July 13th at the Ritz Carleton in Tysons Corner. The keynote presentation will come from Charles Wisecarver, CTO for the Department of State. Appian is the premier sponsor of the event, and Matt Calkins, Appian CEO, will speak on a panel alongside Defense Acquisition University CFO Mark Whiteside and Business Transformation Agency Acting Director Keith Seaman. bpm106 galal BetterGov Video: Medhat Galal, Director of Professional Services at Appian, Discusses How BPM Makes Our Great Nation More Effective
As many of us spent the past holiday weekend marking the birth of our great nation with family and friends, we are reminded of the fact that we are a nation of achievers who continually strive to do better – no matter the challenges we face.

As we have highlighted through out the BetterGov blog, government is taking proactive strides to be more effective and efficient through the use of Business Process Management (BPM) (versus COTS). Government agencies are taking this “American drive to be better” by enhancing their processes that will ultimately make them, and our great nation, stronger.

Following is an exclusive video interview with Medhat Galal, Director of Professional Services at Appian, who discusses how agencies are embracing this new paradigm of achieving their goals and missions through BPM. We hope you enjoy.

We are excited to roll out our first installment of the BetterGov video series.  From time-to-time, we will be showcasing video interviews with industry experts who discuss the deep impact Business Process Management (BPM) has on government.

For our first interview, we spent some time with Matt Calkins, Appian CEO, who discusses how BPM is creating an “effectiveness revolution” for government — where BPM is charting the course for a fundamental shift in federal agency efficiency and effectiveness.

In addition, he discusses how the U.S. Army created Army Knowledge Online (AKO), which was based on Appian’s leading-edge BPM solution technology that enables the streamlining of enterprise collaboration and facilitation of knowledge management.
