BPM can have a holistic impact on businesses

In a recent interview with Image and Data Manager, industry expert Luke McCormack explained that BPM strategies can impact everything from an isolated process in the back office to how organizations interact with customers. McCormack told the news source that processes often function similarly to the DNA of an organization because they dictate how a company behaves as an entity. This analogy acknowledges the key role of processes, which, according to McCormack, also interact closely with the different technologies that businesses use on a day-to-day basis.

While processes are incredibly important components of how a company functions, they can also be difficult to manage effectively. BPM is, therefore, essential because it helps connect processes and exchange them between users, McCormack told Image and Data Manager.

The combination of the breadth of processes and the importance of using BPM to connect them creates an environment in which organizations of almost any size and type can benefit from BPM solutions, McCormack told the news source.

“Organizations, regardless of their maturity, will have what we call execution gaps where the existing technologies have been filled by post-it notes on monitors or spreadsheets or access databases,” McCormack told Image and Data Manager. “Basically a sort of a disintermediation of the way in which processes are executed, so there are gaps in the way in which the business is executed and those gaps typically fill with whatever is available at the time.  And what that leads to is inconsistency of service and the way in which people execute their roles.”
