Amazon Web Services & Appian Enable Software Innovations Through the Cloud

Business Process Management software in the cloud enables strategic process improvement, reduced technology cost, and better alignment of IT with business goals. This new IT paradigm and business model can drive new growth opportunities, increase profit margins, and achieve more efficient missions for organizations across all industries.

During this past week’s Appian World user conference, cloud solutions for business process excellence were highlighted by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Brian Matsubara, Head of Global Technology Alliances at AWS, was on hand to discuss the long-tenured partnership between Appian and the cloud vendor. Matsubara discussed the AWS offering as a prelude to customer presentations from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Punch Taverns, who are both using Appian Cloud solutions to integrate enterprise data, mobility and social collaboration to empower business and engage employees, customers and partners.

When measuring the capacity growth rate of the current AWS environments, the organization has added enough server capacity to power all of the 2003 era Amazon business. As an additional point of comparison, the $5 Billion revenue puts AWS around 400 in the Fortune 500 ranks. Examples of companies with revenues around $5 Billion include Charles Schwab, Clorox, Harley Davidson and VMWare.

“AWS is very robust, featuring a technology infrastructure platform that has great breadth of services and depth in its offerings,” said Matsubara. “Outside of operational performance and security of the platform, we are proudest of the agile pace of innovation we have created for our customers.”

Customers such as Appian use AWS for a variety of reasons to achieve optimal business growth and increased process efficiencies. According to Matsubara, organizations choose AWS to reduce cost of infrastructure, secure cloud-enabled IT workloads, create innovative channel access, and serve global markets. In addition to Appian, AWS features impressive customer representation in over 190 countries, over 600 government agencies, and 2,400 academic institutions.

The Appian BPM Suite has a 100 percent web-based interface and scalable architecture, which makes it an ideal environment to deploy as a service in the cloud. Appian in the cloud has the same functionality as traditional on-premise BPM software deployments and provides a powerful way to accelerate your process improvement initiatives.

The entire Appian BPM Suite is available as either an on-premise or cloud offering. Cloud delivery of the Appian Work Platform is a secure and reliable way to create a more nimble and adaptive organization. The benefits of deploying Appian in the cloud includes low start up cost, fast deployment with no manual maintenance, predictable costs during the life of the application, and fast return-on-investment.
